Why we are doing this

The RNLI receives no central UK government funding and our volunteers often go to sea in horrendous conditions to save people's lives.

Our 4,800 volunteer crew members come from all walks of life, but now less than ten per cent come from a professional maritime background so specialist training is more cruical than ever before.  It costs over £120 million every year to run the RNLI and our volunteers often go to sea in horrendous conditions to save people's lives. That's why training is so important to make certain our volunteers are not only effective lifesavers, but also come back safely from sea.

We'll put the money you raise to good use.

For every thousand pounds you raise we'll train a crew member for a year. With £20,000 we can fund the annual cost of training an entire crew at one lifeboat station. The RNLI has over 230 lifeboat stations around the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
