RNLI Arboretum memorial

Our lifesaving spirit reflected in our garden
The design was created by respected gardener and TV presenter Chris Beardshaw and is an enhancement of the original site that was created and funded by local volunteers.
In designing this garden for us, Chris has created a coastal scene – a beautiful space in which to contemplate and reflect on the work of the RNLI.
This landscape has been designed to reflect the work of RNLI crews and the relationship between crew members, a rescued person and all their families whose lives become interwoven during a rescue. It is intended not only as a celebration and recognition of the work of the RNLI but also to honour those crew and people who have lost their lives saving others.
Image is a sculpture of a lifeboat crew member crafted by Andrew Fitchett.
