      As with all safety and emergency equipment, servicing is most important. Whatever type of lifejacket you use, it will need basic maintenance to keep it working properly. This card provides information on how to carry out general inspections.

    • Lerwick medal service to Green Lily

      Lerwick, 19 November 1997: In a rescue where helicopter winchman, Bill Deacon loses his life after saving the last ten men from the freighter, Green Lily, in a near hurricane, Coxswain Hewitt Clark earns the RNLI Gold Medal for gallantry bringing his lifeboat alongside the ship within yards of the shore and saving five of her crew.
