All weather lifeboat training
The Lifeboat College offers a range of competence-based courses for all weather lifeboat (ALB) crew. Courses support all ALB crew responsibilities. Some are specifically aimed at navigators, others are for coxswains and the more generic courses support all crew members.
The ALB course portfolio includes a navigation course, a command course and a boat-handling course. Externally accredited examinations are also offered at the College.
The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust funds training for new recruits
The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust (The LRET) has stepped in to fund the sea survival element of the new Trainee Crew course for the next 5 years. This amounts to support of almost £1M.
