Fishing safety
Fishing is the UK's most hazardous industry, with more than 20 deaths every year, most of which are due to flooding, capsize or man overboard. For the last 10 years the RNLI has been working on prevention, to help make fishermen more aware of the dangers they face. There has been a steady rise in fishermen wearing lifejackets while working on deck and great improvements in safety awareness. The RNLI continues to develop new ways of helping fishermen become more safety conscious.
