Our aim

The RNLI has always responded to changes in the way that people use the sea.

Our aim is to double the size of our lifeguarding service over the next 3 years so that every UK region that needs lifeguard cover on its beaches has seasonal patrols.

We do our best to encourage people to choose lifeguarded beaches. We want them to make safety their priority over car parking and clean toilets. But there are still many popular beaches, especially in regions outside the south west of England, which don’t have lifeguard patrols. You can help us to change that.

With your help, we can ensure that every beach in the UK has the appropriate level of safety cover.
