Teenagers can be a difficult group to connect with, especially when it comes to promoting safety, which is why we join up with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to offer young people an opportunity to give something back to the community via the Service section of the site.
Several Lifeboat stations around the country support this by offering the Duke of Edinburgh student an opportunity to spend time at the station, learning and lending a helping hand. We encourage the students to spend some of their time fundraising for the RNLI as well as learning what it means to volunteer their time. This has led to several young people becoming crew members following their involvement.
If you wish to know more about the Duke of Edinburgh Service sections being run in conjunction with the RNLI in your area, please contact your Education Manager.
