Fleetwood RNLI Sent out SOS to the local people

On the RNLI SOS Day, Friday 27 January, the crew and volunteers at Fleetwood lifeboat station and shop opened the doors to local folk of Fleetwood to show them around the station and lifeboats.
A few weeks previously, the crew had put out ther own SOS asking the people of Fleetwood to help them fund the new lifejackets and appealed to them to help raise the £3,000 needed for the jackets...

Walkers saved from incoming tide by Eastbourne RNLI

Eastbourne RNLI’s inshore lifeboat went to the assistance of two visitors yesterday afternoon (Sun 29 Jan) when they became cut off by the incoming tide whilst walking along the shore beneath the cliffs at Beachy Head
The couple had set out earlier from Birling Gap for a bracing work along the shoreline to celebrate a birthday but the afternoon ended in a tense scramble across jagged rocks, waist deep in freezing water for the couple from Richmond. Luckily several other walkers at the top of the cliffs saw the couple’s predicament as they realized their escape from the beach had been cut off by the flooding tide and they alerted the emergency services by dialling 999 on their mobile telephones...

Sunderland RNLI rescue adult and 2 children after boat suffers engine failure

Lifeboat volunteers from Sunderland RNLI Station scrambled into action for the sixth time in 2012 early this afternoon to assist the crew of a motor cruiser, after it suffered engine 1 mile off Sunderland.
The rescue mission was launched shortly after 3:30pm when Coastguard Officers based at Humber Coastguard Marine Rescue Coordination Centre received an emergency 999 telephone call from the crew stating that their vessel was drifting after losing power to both engines 1 mile south-east of Roker Pier, Sunderland...

School carries out sponsored silence for St David's RNLI

On Tuesday (24 January) volunteer crew members from St David's RNLI lifeboat station attended Ysgol Bro Dewi, St David's to receive a cheque for £100, which had been raised by school pupils.
The pupils had raised the money by carrying out a sponsored silence, and decided to present the proceeds to St David's RNLI in order for the volunteer crew to carry on their lifesaving work...
