Padstow lifeboat crew

The crew

The Padstow lifeboat crew comprises of 24 men plus the coxswain and mechanic. All 24 men are volunteers from all walks of life: hotelier, fishermen, restaurant owner, boat builder, painter and decorator, sales representative, digger driver to name but a few. Some have over 30 years experience as RNLI volunteers, and one prospective crew waiting to join on his 17th birthday.

Coxswain Alan Tarby

Coxswain Alan Tarby

Alan Tarby joined the Padstow Lifeboat in 1977 as a volunteer crew member then subsequently as Deputy Coxswain. Alan worked as a fisherman until his appointment as Coxswain in 1993.

Mechanic Michael England

Mechanic Michael England

Michael England joined the Padstow lifeboat crew in 1989, on his 17th birthday. Michael worked as a fisherman prior to his appointment as Mechanic in 2004. Michael's father was Trevor England MBE, former Coxswain Padstow Lifeboat.
