Tobermory History
1938 The RNLI established a lifeboat station and the lifeboat was moored in the harbour.
1947 The station closed because it was difficult getting enough crew and the lifeboat was moved to Mallaig.
1990 The station re-opened in May and the Waveney class lifeboat was moored in the harbour.
1991 The Waveney class lifeboat was withdrawn and replaced by an Arun class lifeboat.
1992 A garage and store next to Mishnish Pier were converted to provide crew facilities, a workshop and souvenir sales outlet.
2000 A new alongside berth was completed.
2003 The new Severn class lifeboat, ON-1270 Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey, was placed on service on 20 August.
