Stranraer History

1974 An inshore lifeboat (ILB) station was established on 4 June with a D class lifeboat, operational during the summer months only and housed in a boathouse on the beach at Agnew Park.

1994 A new boathouse was completed providing housing for the D class lifeboat and launching vehicle, and crew facilities.

1996 The D class lifeboat was placed on all year round service.

1998 The new D class lifeboat, D-538 Tom Broom, was placed on service on 19 October. This lifeboat was funded by the Stamford branch appeal.
