Largs Crew

Dave Hewitt (Lifeboat Operations Manager)
Dave is a former D and B class Lifeboat Helm over a twenty year period prior to being appointed LOM in 1991. In 1983 Dave was awarded a Medal Service Certificate for his part in the rescue of a young girl from an upturned boat.

Bill Kerr (DLA and Lifeboat Treasurer)
Bill joined the crew in 1985 in the role of Lifeboat Treasurer this being added to in 1988 when he was appointed DLA. Bill is employed as a Procurement Officer with a international computer company.

Brian Rankin Helmsman and Training Coordinator
Brian joined the crew in 2000 and has been a helmsman since 2004. Brian is employed as a data analyst by an international IT company. Like Graham, he also works from home, with the 100% support of his employers is available 24 x 7 for call outs.
Brian is also the Station Training Coordinator, ensuring the Competent Based Training is kept up to date and that all crew are at the latest level of training.

Dave Hewitt Jnr Helmsman / Mechanic
Dave joined the crew with parental consent at 17, hardly surprising as he was never away from the station, his dad being one of the helmsmen. Dave has been helmsman for the last 5 years and is also the station mechanic.
Dave work at Largs Yacht Haven and, thanks to their continuing support, is available 24 x 7 for call outs.
While not at work Dave can be found at the station immersed in his mechanic's duties.

Russell Gordon Crew
Russell hails from Tighnabruich where he is also lifeboat crew, so when he's home visiting he attends their shouts - back in Largs he covers ours.

Tom Kennedy Crew
Tom has been crew for four years now, he works as a farmhand.

Roger Coulthard Crew
Roger has been crew now for five years and works for a large IT company.

Malcom McNaught Jnr Crew
Malcolm has been crew for 3 years now - while studying for the Merchant Navy. Malcolm is the second of the crew to follow their father into the RNLI....

Malcolm McNaught Shore Helper
Malcolm has been with the Largs station since it's outset. He is employed by the Council as a gardener and so is always handy within the town to respond to call outs.

Ronnie Copeland Shore Helper
Ronnie was lifeboat crew for over 20 years before stepping down to shore helper. Working offshore means he is away for long periods, the benefit being when he is not, he's available 24 x 7 for the station
