Sunderland Crew

Paul Nicholson, Senior Helmsman
Paul, aged 30, has been part of Sunderland lifeboat crew since 1997. He recently took over the position of Senior Helmsman, which became available after the recent operational changes at the station.Paul is employed as an Electrical Design Engineer for Regional Electricity Company CE-Electric which is based in Penshaw, near Sunderland.

Ron Carroll, A75 Mechanic/Helmsman
Ron, aged 36 has been part of the crew at Sunderland since 2004. In 2005 he took over the role of D Class Mechanic, before moving to look after the B Class in 2006. During 2006 Ron was also appointed as an appointed Helmsman for the stations D Class Inshore Lifeboat. His full time job is as a self-employed Sign writer, and his hobbies include Diving as well as being a local Marine Medic for BDMLR.

Clive Fallon, D Class Mechanic
Clive, aged 26, first joined the crew in 1998 but left in 2001 due to personal circumstances. He returned to the crew in 2005 and has completed the necessary training at the RNLI's college to crew the lifeboats at Sunderland.
Clive has recently been appointed IB-1 mechanic, being responsible for the general maintenance of the boat, tractor and ILB station.

Martin Andrew, the station’s longest serving crew member
Martin, aged 45, has been part of Sunderland Lifeboat Crew since 1996, and is the station’s longest serving operational crewman. Martin currently holds the position of Helmsman on both the stations D Class and Atlantic 75 Class Lifeboats.
Martin is employed as a planning Engineer, at Nissan’s local car production plant, near Sunderland.
