Richard Martin
Station Mechanic/ Lifeboat Press Officer / Tractor Driver.
Began volunteer service at Newbiggin in the 1960's when the last offshore lifeboat 'Mary Joicey' was here. Since then he has given continous service to the station and is currently Station Mechanic / Lifeboat Press Officer / Tractor Driver/Webmaster for Official Newbiggin RNLI website.
Awards: 1994 - RNLI Chief of Operations Letter of Thanks for Shoreboat Service; 1995 - 20 year Long Service Award; 2002 - The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.

Alan Keitly

Tim Martin
Lifeboat Boathouse Manager.
Joined the station during the 1950's and served as crew and later second mechanic on the last two offshore lifeboats at Newbiggin until they were withdrawn in 1981. Since then Tim has continued as a volunteer on the station being tractor driver and shorehelper. Tim retired as Deputy Launching Authority in February 2003. Tim also is responsible for signwriting the traditional black service boards which are on display in the boathouse.
