Sligo Bay History

1998 An inshore lifeboat (ILB) station was temporarily established and a D class lifeboat was sent to the station for evaluation for three months. The ILB was kept at Rosses Point.

1999 The station was permanently established and a relief B class Atlantic 21 lifeboat, B-525 Spix’s Macaw was placed on service on 12 March. The ILB was kept on moorings in the channel off Rosses Point.

2001 A new boathouse was completed for the lifeboat, launching trailer and tractor and it also provides crew facilities.
 
2002 The Atlantic 75, B-781 Elsinore, arrived at the station.
