Bundoran History

1972 Bundoran Inshore Rescue, a private rescue service, was established.

1991 The private rescue service asked the RNLI to take over the running of their service.

1992 The RNLI’s Committee of Management agreed that an inshore lifeboat station would be established at Bundoran.

1994  A boathouse was built for the B class lifeboat and launching tractor, and some rock was removed from the launching channel to improve the launch and recovery of the lifeboat.

An Atlantic 21 lifeboat was placed on service on 28 March.

1995  The Atlantic 21 was withdrawn and replaced by an Atlantic 75, B-711 Helene, on 30 May.

1997 Additional dredging was carried out to the launching channel to further improve the launching and recovery of the lifeboat.
