Hastings Crew

The Team
There are about 20 crewmembers and another 15 shorecrew at Hastings all of which ensure the lifeboats are launched quickly and safely everytime there is a call.All but 2 of the crew and shorehelpers are volunteers, the Coxswain and Mechanic are the only fulltime members of the station.there is a wide selection of jobs that people at the station do, at the moment we have shop keepers, train inspectors, highway managers, gas man, window fitter, delivery driver, a doctor, and a number of the crew work for the Ambulance service, this is just a small selection of the varied backgrounds that make up the team at Hastings.

Martin Phillips
Martin Joined the RNLI in 1992 at Rye Harbour, after moving to Hastings in 1998 he joined the Hastings team.formally a Boatbuilder by trade, Martin took over as full time Coxswain in March 2002.

Mark Stapley
Mark joined the crew in 1997 and is an ILB Helmsman and Navigator on the ALB. During the day Mark runs Delboys wholesale warehouse.His claim to fame is that he appered on GMTV after his mum nominated him the 'Sexiest man in uniform' competion.

Glenn Barry
Glenn joined the station over 15 years ago and living very close to the station, rarely misses a service call.He is a crewmember on the ALB and prospective Helmsman on the ILB. A window fitter by trade Glenn's main hobby is Formula 1.

Becky Sullivan
Becky is a new addition to the team at Hastings, joining in March. She is a probationary crewmember on both the ALB and ILB. Becky works for South East Coast Ambulance Service as a Paramedic. Formally an Essex Girl Becky has now fully converted to Sussex life.

Billy Sutton
Billy joined the crew in 2005 and is a crewmember on the ILB and a crewmember and assistant mechanic on the ALB.As a day job Billy runs Hastings Motorcycle Centre with his Father, he is also pretty good at making tea and baking cakes as he also owns and runs a local cafe with his wife.
