MTU funded by Fred Olsen

Fred. Olsen has been a loyal corporate supporter to RNLI over many years dating back to the 1960’s. As well as the donation of holidays, the company raises funds through raffles, quizzes, church services, foreign coin collections and auctions on board their cruise liners.

Money raised has previously funded a relief fleet lifeboat named after one of their cruise ships, the Braemar and the cost of a RNLI mobile training unit, are used to deliver training to crews all around the coast allows the crews to train near their homes and respective lifeboat stations.

Last year the company raised in excess of £72,000 to continue its fine fundraising traditions. Thanks to these donations from passengers and crew, the RNLI is to take delivery of several new specialised launching trailers for their latest Atlantic 85 rigid inflatable lifeboats.

Tizzy Perkins, corporate fundraising manager for the RNLI comments: ‘We are most grateful to the passengers and crews of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, who have been supporting the RNLI through onboard activities, and to the company for donating prizes. The Drive on, Drive off (Do-Do) trolleys will help us to launch RIB lifeboats faster to those in trouble in areas where the lifeboats are launched directly from a beach.'

Wendy Hooper-Greenhill, publicity manager from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines comments: ‘Fundraising for the RNLI has become an institution on all our ships, and it is very rewarding to know that the generosity of our passengers and crew has achieved so much this year'
