Ordinary people doing extraordinary things
Training is what turns a volunteer from someone who is willing to save lives into someone who can do it well and safely. When we train one, we save many.
Only one in 10 crew members join the RNLI from a professional maritime occupation. That makes training all the more important, but it all comes at a price...
Most of the crew members are volunteers. They need skills as well as courage if they are to operate lifeboats, rescue casulties and bring them safely home. A crew member who possesses those skills is capable of saving lives for years to come.
