Because the RNLI is a charity it relies on people to raise money to help it to run. Did you know that in 2006 it cost around £335,000 to run the RNLI each day. In 2007 this increased to £339,000 every day. Out of every pound raised 85p goes to help save lives at sea and 15p for fundraising. All the money raised goes to six separate areas:
• Rescue • Prevention • Operational maintenance • Innovation and international • Governance • Cost of generating voluntary income
So even the smallest amount donated can help to make a difference and save a life. |
