Regatta Rescue
RNLI Lifeboats from Anstruther, Dunbar, and North Berwick were diverted and North Berwick Coastguard Team was requested to attend, following directions from Forth Coastguard.
Off the coast of Scotland, a sailing regatta was taking place accompanied by safety crafts. However, a squall (a sudden sharp increase in wind speed ) caused most of the 15 dinghies to capsize, throwing their crews into the water. North Berwick Coastguard quickly established communications with the race organisers. The club’s safety craft were then assisted by the RNLI North Berwick Blue Peter Lifeboat with the rescue effort.
After approximately 30 minutes of the rescue mission, it was determined that all people and craft had been safely accounted for and that there were no apparent injuries.
