Brief History of Station
The RNLI established North Berwick lifeboat station in 1860, this was closed in 1925 but reopened in 1967 as an in shore lifeboat station. A D class lifeboat funded by a BBC Blue Peter Appeal was placed on service.

The Blue Peter III was involved in a dramatic rescue in 1973, which resulted in RNLI medals being awarded to Helmsman Benjamin Pearson and crew member Alexander Russell in recognition of the courage and determination they displayed when the Blue Peter III rescued a man whose boat had capsized. They also received 3 gold Blue Peter badges for this rescue.
A new boathouse extension was installed in 1997. This provided better facilities for the crew, as well as housing the latest Atlantic 75 lifeboat which was donated to the station as a result of the BBC Blue Peter Pieces of Eight Appeal.
In 2001, the station celebrated its 100th year of saving lives at sea and was given a special awarded by the RNLI to commemorate the occasion.
