Other ideas to explore a Seaside topic are:
Write a brochure advertising the seaside resort you visited or your local seaside town to persuade people to visit – set up the role play corner as a travel agents
Write postcards home from your trip to the seaside, either in the present day or imagining it was in the past
Make sea pictures either using collage or exploring colour mixing techniques with paint
Environmental art – use items collected at the beach (where legal!) to make collages or outdoor art and photograph
Make Punch and Judy puppets and put on a show
Put on an End of the Pier show for your end of term show
Learn some beach games in PE
Using video footage of stormy seas write poetry about a stormy night on a boat
Discuss what to pack to go to the seaside, can link to boating safety
Using music about the sea (e.g. Morcheeba – Down by the sea) compose a sea dance with the children. Long ribbons can be used as waves or simple sea gulls made out of cardboard tubes with added wings.
Research a famous shipwreck, like the Penlee disaster and explore it through poetry or role play
Look at myths and stories about the sea, maybe write your own!
