Sunderland RNLI save man from River Wear after bridge fall
Volunteers from Sunderland’s RNLI lifeboat station rushed into action late last night help save a man from drowning after he was seen falling 85ft into the River Wear from Wearmouth Bridge.

Crowd watches Berwick-upon-Tweed rescue man from sea
A dramatic rescue took place in front of Spittal Pavilion on Saturday when HM Coastguard requested the launch of Berwick-upon-Tweed lifeboats at 1.45pm.

Who we are

We are volunteers across the UK and Republic of Ireland united by selflessness, skill and courage.

Advice on how to avoid getting into trouble in the first place - from lifejackets to beach flags.

The RNLI has 235 lifeboat stations, covering the coasts of UK and RoI, and selected inland waterways.
